Cake Table Letters Complete

So I came across this DIY from another bride and I was inspired! Instead of "I Do" letters, I thought "We Do" would be just as cute.

Like my other DIY, this one took me 2 attempts, here are the supplies from the 1st attempt.

Here is the semi completed version of attempt 1,notice:
1) It turned out a bit more orange then I predicted
2) the gray actually has a blue tint to it

Here is attempt #2, the softer coral color is so much prettier

Here is the completed version!!

So here is what I learned (for the creative challenged):
1) Paint - I used Acrylic paint in the past and decided to use it for this project. It has a nice thick even texture to it and you can actually paint a lighter color ontop! In the completed picture 3/4 of the letters actually have 2 coats of gray paint due to a miscalculation (1 darker and 1 lighter on top)
2) Buy BASIC paint. IE. Black, White, Red, Orange, Blue, Yellow. I made the mistake of buying "Cadmium Red Light" (instead of Orange) and Payne's Gray (instead of black). Well the gray actually had a blue tint to it that did not look good at all. Go back to your childhood roots; any color can be created by mixing the basic colors. Avoid the fancy names!
3) Buy a New paint brush! I really noticed the difference between the 1st and 2nd attempt. The first time around I used my 7 yr old paint brush with a pointy edge that I figured would be good enough. Of course it was no advantage and I ended up buying a new paint brush.
4) Buy an extra wood letter. The paint on the wood actually became darker, and since I was mixing colors it took me quite some time to figure out what shade of gray & coral I wanted. Instead of buying 4 letters + 1 practice one . . . I ended up buying 8 letters.
Here's a picture of my semi completed letters vs my practise ones.

All in all, it was pretty fun project but a little steep as the final tally came to $44 (8 letters, 4 paints, 1 paint brush - all items were 40% off except 4 of the letters). Originally I wasn't sure if I wanted a gray outline or not, as the plain coral was pretty enough, but the more I stare at my completed project the more I love it. And I'm NOT buying another 4 letters to redo it again, so I better be happy (LOL).
