Colors & Choices and the land of Upgrades

So on Saturday we went to look at some choices for our new home! Of course like every married couple, we definitely disagreed on some aspects.

1) Tile Choices
We originally had our eyes set on this tile, we just loved the texture and grooves of it. Of course we didn't know it was an upgrade, so.... we might have to forgo this choice.

Here is the tile that we're considering now.

2) Hardwood
We wanted a deep, dark hardwood for our home and these were the two darkest that we took pictures of. There were some other darker types as well, but the sample was only one piece so it was a bit hard to envision. Can you guess which one we're currently leaning towards? We did have much debate, and the final choice will probably depend on which cabinet color we chose.

3) Cabinets
The fruit of all our troubles. We had agreed we wanted dark cabinets, but of course we both have a different idea on what dark means. The deep dark rich color I wanted they didn't carry... and the darkest brown color was the Victorian. Van of course thought that it wasn't dark enough and he wants the Ebony. I think it's a bit to black. We'll have to see, as we've heard that the Victorian Color may be an upgrade as it's harder to stain Maple then Oak (so he just might win, sigh)

4) Backspash
Imagine our surprise when we found out we only had 3 color choices for our backspash. Our choices are White, Cooper, or Silver. Needless to say, this is one area we're thinking of upgrading. Unfortunately we both have expensive taste and we fell in love with glass, which may turn out to be a costly upgrade. Another option we're considering is to just pick a non upgraded backsplash and then pull it out ourselves one day. But here are the two glass choices we fell in love with, can you guess which one we're leaning towards?

5) Granite
We actually had our eye set on a certain granite before we even purchased our home. Unfortunately it's an upgrade (groan). It's called Black Galaxy . . . depending on the amount of the upgrade we may not upgrade this feature. Our standard choices include Black Pearl, and a white granite that I actually like (has a bit of red and some flecks in it). Course we're debating with each other on this aspect

6) Baseboards
I'm not a big fan of the baseboards included in the home and we may chose to upgrade it, depending on the cost. Or maybe in the later years we may just do it ourselves (and when I say we, that means Van with me keeping him company LOL).
All in all, I think we may only be able to upgrade only 1 or 2 aspects so it'll all depend on price and what is most important.

Lastly, here's our nephew that we're trying to turn into an NHL star so that we can retire. LOL
