Wedding Bands. . .

So we decided to look at wedding bands for Van, since my wedding bands were made in Asia at the same time with my engagement ring back in 2007. (And yes that is not a typo, it is wedding bands not wedding band LOL.)

Our first trip was in August to a custom jeweller (Diagold) who could make the ring for $500 using a corporate discount.

Our second trip yesterday was to Spence Diamonds where we spied a ring for $587.

Well. . . we thought for a band without diamonds that the price was a bit hefty, so right now we are on plan C and seeing how much it would cost to custom make the ring in Asia where we had all my rings made. Which brings us back to the question of. . . why didn't we pick out or get Van's ring made in Asia like we did with mine? Well . . . Van hates shopping, and after a couple of hours he gets fed up and grumpy like any other male and will not even want to look at items even if there's a fabulous discount! Not even if he absolutely loves the item and it's dirt cheap, course and then I have to listen to days of him going... man I should've got that. So luckily mom is still in Asia and can go to the jeweller to see if how much it would cost over there. Lets cross our fingers and hope that it's affordable!

Side story, Mom was telling me about some Andy Lau movie and a Cartier ring that was done in White Gold, Yellow Gold and Rose Gold. Definitely tweaked my interest and boy is it lovely!! LOL it makes me want to get a new wedding band, course Van would throw a fit and I highly doubt seeing him wearing a matching ring like this one. But a girl can surely dream right?

*** Feb 9/09 update: so Asia will actually cost more then purchasing the ring here. So now I've been emailing Jewellers to see how much the discount is through work. Apparently Diagold is no longer on the list, so now we're checking out Birks, Crowleys and possibly Independent Jewellers. Come on . . . Discount.

*** Feb 19/09 update: So the quote for Diagold is $500-600, while Crowleys is $800-900. I have no idea if the corporate discount is good, cause I'm not sure how much it should cost. But at this point we're going with Diagold and having it custom created! Will update with pics when I hear more
